I could feel your intense frustration. The debilitating anger at your inability to move me with your limited view of what should enrage me and keep me captive. Your steadfast conviction that there must be something in me that you can de-armour, expose, or extract. Believing that nothing can withstand your raw gladiator strength and prowess, you launched your fighting spirit to save me from the attack of the beasts that you believe have taken residence in my soul.
You are Ares* (See Footnote), the God of the Battle. The epitome of physical courage and with an embodied drive to destroy the Dark.
You were celebrated during times when we needed to connect with our passion, when we were desperate to shake up our root chakras, and when we wanted to tear apart that which threatened destroyed us.
You were longed for when we thought we had no power. When our distorted purity and misplaced virtuosity choked and chastised us to the point of believing we were little, less than, and weak.
And you were ready when you unceremoniously, without a second glance and zero regard for yourself, ripped apart the demons which we were not yet meant to see.
We honour you for your service. We are deeply grateful for your trusted protection, your unflinching courage, and your steadfast solidarity.
And we thank you for showing us who we really are.
But we can no longer carry your unhealed trauma of being overlooked, your pain of having to prove yourself, or your resentment at not being worshipped as the hero you thought you were.
We can not receive your outrage, or absorb your fury at the fallen. We can also no longer feed your guilt, or pacify your shame.
Now we know. We are no longer the trophies to your battles of brutality or your savage rescue missions to redeem yourself from the atrocities of your fellow man.
We are clear containers, free from obligatory fucks and above any outdated assumption that we must lie down and spread our legs to feed your frazzled egos.
We are no longer damsels in distress, fiery feminists, or scorned and jealous leftover dames.
And we need you more than ever.
We need you to show us the way into our bodies where we can find raw, unbridled passion, when we forget.
We need you to stand for our honour, our name, and our lineage, when others forget.
We need you to invoke the power of intense emotion to fuel the alchemical vortex of our consciousness in physical form.
We need you to carry us when we falter, fail, or fall.
We need you to accept our appreciation for the pleasure of watching you, witnessing you, and wanting you.
We are healing, and we stand proud. In our full feminine truths, passionately in our desire, vulnerable in our weakness, and magnificent in our strengths.
Yes, we carry scars. And we hurt. God, do we hurt. We feel intensely.
But we are the Warrior Goddesses, the Bad-Ass Priestesses, and the Fierce Lionesses.
We meet you there – eye to eye, heart to heart, and loin to loin.
Written on behalf of the Divine Feminine during a particular life stage and a particular mission, healing her sovereign expression of who she is.
*Footnote: In Greek mythology, Ares represents the energy of raw and present physical force. He has, as all these archetypal expressions, many gifts, and many wounds. We all – males and females, can learn from Ares how to stand fully in our embodied passion and fierce power, without being consumed by it in a shadow expression of arrogance, brutality, and unconscious lust.
